The Last Sundays of Summer

The Last Sundays of Summer

There’s always that point in August when everyone suddenly decides summer is over.

Fall collections start dropping. Pumpkin everything starts showing up. People are talking about sweaters while it’s still 90 degrees outside.

We’re not there yet.

There are still a few Sundays left for iced coffee at noon, staying at the beach longer than you planned, dinner outside, last-minute plans and coming home when the sun is already down.

Honestly, this might be the best part of summer.

The Part of Summer Nobody Talks About

The beginning of summer always comes with plans.

Trips. Reservations. Things you have to do before summer is over.

By the end of it, the pressure is gone.

You’ve already worn your favorite shorts 30 times. Your summer uniform has officially become whatever is easiest to throw on. Plans happen in the group chat approximately 45 minutes before you're supposed to leave.

And somehow those days always end up being the good ones.

The coffee run that turns into lunch.

Going to the beach for an hour and staying until sunset.

Throwing a sweatshirt in the car because you know you're going to need it later.

Nothing groundbreaking. Just summer being summer.

What We’re Wearing

This is exactly how we imagined Sundays in Rome being worn.

Not saved for anything.

Actually lived in.

A Classic Tee with shorts and sandals. The Sunday Social Quarter Zip thrown over a bikini when the sun starts going down. Sweat shorts that somehow work for staying home, getting coffee, running errands and ending up somewhere you definitely weren't planning on going.

The pieces that stay on the chair because putting them back in the closet feels unnecessary when you already know you're wearing them again tomorrow.

That’s the uniform right now.

One More Sunday

Fall will come.

We'll get excited about layers. We'll live in sweatshirts. We'll start ordering hot coffee again eventually.

But we're not rushing it.

For now, there are still warm nights, late sunsets and a few more Sundays that don't need much of a plan.

So wear the shorts.

Get the ice cream.

Stay until sunset.

We'll get to fall when we get to fall.

See you Sunday,

Sundays in Rome

il dolce far niente.
